The app is taking longer than 20 seconds to start responding
On some machines, the assistant takes longer than usual to become ready the first time, especially if the disk is slow or other demanding programs are running. If it often takes more than a minute, try closing other heavy apps and restarting PrivateDocs AI. If the problem persists, contact support at support@privatedocsai.ai.
The AI isn't finding information I know is in my documents
Possible causes:
- Your PDF may be a scanned or image-based file with no embedded text. Re-upload it with Advanced Parsing enabled — the app will run OCR automatically, with no external tools required.
- The model works best with direct questions. Try rephrasing your query.
- Large documents may take a few minutes to fully index. Wait a few minutes after adding files and try again.
I can't log in to my account
Use the "Forgot Password" link on the login page to reset your password. If you're still having trouble, contact support with your account email address.
Adding a file failed
Check the following:
- File size: Stay within any per-file limit shown in the app.
- File type: PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown (.md), CSV, and PowerPoint (.pptx) are supported.
- Disk space: Ensure your hard drive or volume has enough free space for the file and its index.
- Permissions: Confirm your user account can read the source file (not locked, not on a disconnected drive).
