Account & billing
How sign-in, your free trial, and a lifetime license relate to what you can do in the app.
Your account
You sign in with your email and password through our secure account service. A purchased license is tied to your account so you can download the app and restore access on a new computer when needed.
Optional two-factor authentication adds an extra step at sign-in. Setup is covered in Two-factor authentication.
If you forget your password, use Forgot password on the sign-in page—the same flow described in the troubleshooting docs.
Free trial (desktop)
In the desktop app, after you sign in you can start a 7-day trial. The app remembers your trial on this computer so you can keep working even if your connection drops briefly. While the trial is active, you may see how many days you have left.
When the trial ends and you have not purchased a lifetime license, you may see a message that asks you to upgrade. Follow the on-screen steps to open your account in the browser and complete purchase when you are ready.
During the free trial, the time limit is applied using a signed token checked on your device; a stable connection is not required every time you open the app. You still need a connection when you first start the trial and when you use the account dashboard in a browser (for example to upgrade).
A lifetime license does not depend on a monthly, weekly, or other periodic connection to our account service to remain valid. Once your account is licensed and the desktop app has stored that status locally, you can use the product offline indefinitely. If a connection is available, the app may refresh license or account data in the background, but that is for convenience—not a time-limited requirement that locks you out when you are air-gapped. Optional app updates, signing in on a new device, and browser-based billing pages still use the network when you choose to use them.
Lifetime license & payment
PrivateDocs AI is sold as a one-time lifetime license, not a monthly subscription. When you are ready to buy, use Upgrade or Buy lifetime license from your dashboard. You will complete payment in a secure window from our payment provider; you do not email card numbers to us.
After payment succeeds, your account is marked as licensed. You can then use the Download area in the dashboard to get the installer for your computer when you are signed in. After that, the app does not require a recurring internet connection to stay licensed for everyday use; see the lifetime license and offline callout above.
Where to manage billing in the app
- Dashboard — see license status and shortcuts to buy a lifetime license or download the desktop app when you are already licensed.
- Billing card on the main dashboard summarizes whether your lifetime license is active and links you to upgrade or download as needed.
